Nach dem Urlaub / After the holiday

Diese Woche begann am Ostermontag mit der Rückreise aus dem Urlaub, den ich ohne Arbeit angetreten bin (ich weiß, das ist eigentlich normal, aber nicht im Lehrerberuf). Da wir am Sonntag in einen dicken Regenschauer geraten waren, hing ich ziemlich durch und musste tatsächlich den Dienstag weitgehend im Bett verbringen. Doch am Mittwoch musste ich wieder an den Schreibtisch und rote Tinte strategisch auf Papier verteilen. Am Donnerstag war ich abends zum Stricktreffen unterwegs - dort habe ich quasi den ganzen zweiten Socken, den ihr auf dem Foto unten seht, gestrickt. Der Freitag war auch mit Arbeit angefüllt, allerdings bin ich dann abends mit meinen Kindern noch kurz ausgegangen. Heute habe ich einige Besorgungen gemacht, u.a. habe ich Wolle für das nächste Projekt gekauft, das ich auf der Klassenfahrt übernächste Woche stricken will. Zum Test muss ich das allerdings noch anstricken, nicht dass Nadel und Wolle nachher nicht zusammenpasst und ich dort Entzugserscheinungen bekomme.

This week began on Easter Monday with coming home from our holiday on which I did not bring anything to work on (I know that's normal but not for teachers). As we came into some rain on Sunday I was not feeling so well and had to stay in bed on Tuesday. However on Wednesday I had to sit at my desk and distribute red ink strategically over papers. On Thursday evening I went to a knitting meeting - there I knit the second sock you can see on the photo. On Friday I did quite a lot of work again but went out with my children for a change. Today I had to run some errands in town, amongst other things I bought some yarn for a project I intend to knit the week after next one on a class trip. I will start this project now as I need to test everything works out because I do not want to sit there not knitting.

Socken im Urlaub / Socks on holiday

Aus dem Urlaub berichten ist natürlich immer schön, denn dann ist viel los. Wir müssen immer unterwegs sein, am liebsten sind wir draußen - abwechselnd in der Stadt und auf dem Land. Am Sonntag erwischten wir einen Frühsommertag im April und führen sofort nach Büsum, um den Strand zu genießen. Seitdem haben wir sehr schönes Aprilwetter ;-) Oft hatten wir Glück und haben den schlimmsten Schauer im Auto erlebt. Gestrickt habe ich außerdem, die Socken sind fertig.

Talking about a holiday ist always very nice as there is a lot to talk about. We are usually out and about a lot - we prefer to be outside and take turns to be in the city and in the countryside.  On Sunday there was a lovely early summer day which we spent on the beach in Büsum. Since then we have had the best of April weather ;-) We were lucky quite a few times when the worst rain came down when we were sitting in the car. I got round to knitting and finished a pair of socks.

Upwards

Dieses Tuch ist schon länger fertig, aber da es ein geheimer Teststrick war, zeige ich es erst heute. Das Tuch habe ich aus kuschelweicher Merinowolle gestrickt und es wärmt mit gerade gegen die schleswig-holsteinische Kälte. Das Stricken hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht und das Tragen ist immer eine Freude.

This scarf has been finished for a while but aus it was a secret testknit I am showing it today. It has been made with cosy merino yarn and is currently warming me against the April Weatherby outside. I enjoyed knitting it and love wearing it.

Stand der Dinge / State of the art

Ich kann von übertriebenen Arbeitseifer nur abraten: 32 Tage am Stück habe ich jeden Tag gearbeitet (oft auch viel) und Zuhause Aufgabe mit den Kindern übernommen. Da ist es kein Wunder, wenn ich am Samstag Abend denke: "Entweder sofort ins Bett oder ich kippe um." Also habe ich gleich den Montag als Ausruhtag drangehängt. Puh, das muss ich mir merken. Gut, dass ich am Samstag in den Urlaub fahre und definitiv nichts zum Arbeiten mitnehme!!! Ich habe mir eine Liste mit Dingen gemacht, die ich vorher noch erledigen will und dann wird nur noch das gemacht, was Freude bringt. Zeigen möchte ich noch meine Socken, die am Freitag fertig geworden sind und mir so richtig gut gefallen.

I can only warn you: Don't work too hard. I have worked for 32 days in a row (often quite long hours, too) and then taken over jobs with the kids at home. It does not surprise me that this thought crossed my mind on Saturday: "Either I lie down immediately or I will collapse." I decided to stay home from work today. I must remember that. I am so happy that we are going on holiday on Saturday and I will not take any work with me!!! I have made a list of things I would like to get done before and after that I will only do things that make me happy. I would like to show you the socks which I finished last Friday. I really like how they turned out.
