Woche 25/2020 | Week 25/2020

This week I can finally show something I knitted. I made a very concious decision to take this jumper from my pile of unfinished objects to knit. At the moment I don't feel like crafting. But looking at the photo I think I will redo the neckline and make it less wide.

Das beste draus machen / Making most of it

Was habe ich also gemacht? Also wieder gestrickt.

This is what happened to me this morning (see top photo). When I woke up so early in the morning I thought: "Can you believe it?". It is a bank holiday, I did not go to bed too early last night - and this is what happens. What did I do? Having woken up while knitting a few rows I went into the forest for about two hours and walked a long circuit. When I came back home everyone was still asleep. So I did some more knitting. Later one we went to have breakfast in a café - we went there by bike because of a contest which intends to save some CO2 emissions. Then I did some work and finished sewing my dress in the evening - I can only show the fabric as I have not taken any nice phots yet. The kids are still outside and I am fighting tiredness but I found my Sunday happiness today.

Teststricken / Testknitting

I did a lot of testknitting for a while - I enjoy it very much but one day common sense spoke to me. I tended to abandon my plans and did not use yarn I had bought. This made me sad. Now I am doing less testknit and I feel a lot better. But this time I had to take part when I saw one of Jana's new scarves (janukke on ravelry). I could see my own version right in front of me. Luckily I managed to get a spot on the testknitting team and am happily knitting away on my new scarf. I knits up surprisingly easily and will be suitable for advanced beginners.

Upwards

This scarf has been finished for a while but aus it was a secret testknit I am showing it today. It has been made with cosy merino yarn and is currently warming me against the April Weatherby outside. I enjoyed knitting it and love wearing it.

Streetscape

Today I am really, really freezing. I have even thought that the heating is not warming me properly today. So I am happy that I have made a beautiful, big scarf for me (as a testknit) as it is lying on my shoulders and around my meck. I love this design! Saw it and fell in love with it - now the pattern has been published.

It is so lovely to make a little plan at the beginning of a month and decided what you want to knit in the following four weeks. At the moment I am knitting a shawl using the lovely Ito Sensai which I cannot show here, I need another 20 repeats. There is also a cardigan for a testknit on my needles which needs to be finished. But now, here's my problem: Janukke and her mystery knit ... I like her shawls so very much ... I am still considering ... Moreover I received my yarn for a secret testknit - the colour combination is just asking to be put on my needles straight away ...

Streifen / Stripes

Knitting stripes is not only enjoyable but also pretty motivating as you keep thinking one more ... And suddenly your jumper is finished. This one has been lying here for quite a while but my daughter wanted to help making the cord but we only managed to do so today. This sweater has not even been washed as it was still so hot. So you can only see a nearly finished project. I am looking forward to autumn when I will wear this beauty, it is so cozy, too.

Hat zwei Ärmel / Has two sleeves

At the moment I am taking part in a sleeve-knitting marathon. Well, no, I am not knitting 42.xyz sleeves, last weekend the figure was four. Last night (thanks to the EURO 2016) I am down to two. I made some photos with Marx and Engels to show you the beautiful design by Janukke which I am testing at the moment. Moreover I love those colours and would love to wear the sweater right now. But someting is missing, e.g. I need to weave in the ends. I'll tell you more about this later.

Dienstbesprechungen / Meetings

Yesterday I was invited to a meeting in Dusseldorf. This meant a train ride of nearly tow hours and listening for several hours. As I am currently knitting in the round during a testknit I made listening nicer by knitting. I am so happy that among the organisers is a knitter who can accept this. A part from that I was so tired because of the weather and other things which keep me from a good night's rest at the moment that knitting helped me to stay awake. And once more I thought: what a great hobby.

Vilyarine-KAL

Yesterday the Vilyarine-KAL on ravelry started - I have been looking forward to knitting this skein of lace from Tausendschön for a long time. Now it is finally happening. The pattern is really relatively easy to knit and I think the yarn is even more beautiful than as a skein. If you would like to join the KAL: It is taking place in Tausendschön Knitters and Janukke Strickdesign (here you will find an English thread as well).

Einladung zum KAL / Invitation to a KAL

(c) Jana Huck

Knitters are very sociable people and this is why they like knitting in company as they also have a good chat at the same time. I am so happy that one of my favourite designers, Jana Huck, and one of my favourite hand dyers, Tausendschön, make this KAL happen. Maybe some of you would like to take part  - communication is happening on ravelry in the groups "Tausendschön Knitters" and "Janukke Strickdesign".

h&h und ich / h&h and me

Before writing this post I had to do some research about product placement and advertising. This blog is private as I have no affiliation with any company whatsoever for which I advertise. No, all I am doing is to show my hobbies and give information to the materials I am using. This is why I would like to tell you straight away that this is not advertising or product placement but just something that happened to me. I am not going to say anything about the quality of the product - not here in public. Right, having said that I can start with my real topic.

I am a curious person and I was so happy to be given a ticket for the h&h, a trade fair for diy in Cologne. I did not have any expectations as I was just accompanying and because I am only knitting for myself. Luckily it was quite empty (the Edinburgh yarn festival and the creativa in Dortmund were on at the same time) and so I was very relaxed. My friend Jana allowed me to shadow her all day. This is how I came to visit the Ito stand - I am fascinated by this yarn due to its unusual material. I was so happy to be given a goodie bag. I also took the liberty to take two yarn samples from the Ito yarn bar. And we testknitted some yarn. Very enjoyable. Furthermore I was treated to a Japanese lemonade which had a glass marble in the top which you had to press into the bottle before drinking. I don't know what this is good for but it is a change. Now all I can do is show my presents and tell you that I like the simplicity of the Japanese design.

Kuscheltuch / Soft scarf

I don't know if I have mentioned that somehow I have not finished all my projects last year? This year I am about to change this. As I was ill over the weekend I managed to knit quite a bit. Apart from the Sarabia-Socks shown in my last post I added the light blue edge to this scarf. It all started with a secret test knit for Jana in March last year. When the scarf was being knit as a mystery KAL I simply had to make another one but with different yarn. So I chose a mohair-silk blend. This is the soft and fluffy result which I like very much. I don't really know why it took so long to finish it. But I am so happy to have it now. As the weatherforecast said that it might get colder tomorrow I am pondering whether to wear it.

Mystery KAL 1

On Saturday morning the first Clue of the Mystery KAL was published so there was a lot going on in Janukke's knitting group on ravelry. As I have knitted the scarf as a secret testknit in spring I wanted to knit a new variant. This is why I chose to knit a mohair-silk blend (cf. post). For me a scarf by Janukke is always special (especially beautiful) because Jana has such brilliant ideas. I really like the pattern very much. With my yarn it turns out completely different, you can the the wholes much clearer. I think it's gorgeous. So I am showing you the first clue from my testknit in comparison.

I must take part in Maschenfein's blog with my new project this month. I am going to take part in a mystery KAL that does not lose its fun despite having been part of the secret testknit of the shawl. Thus I can be quite brave concerning my choice of yarn, well, I believe so. I have been wanting to knit mohair in a gradient and this beautiful light blue. And so the KAL and my plans are a perfect match - and I got my pocketmoney today! If you would like to join in - and it's really worth it, the shawl is very, very special - have a look here: Janukke or ravelry.

WIP

Gerade bin ich an einem ganz bezaubernden Teststrick zugange - gut abgelagerte Garne kommen hier ganz groß raus! Ich bin so begeistert!

At the moment I am working on a really magic testknit - yarns that have been in my stash for a long time come out really well. I am so happy!

Mondstein / Moonstone

At long last I found some time to take a photo of my finished top Moonstone. It was made for my mother as a present. I did another testknit for Jana who decided to publish the pattern next year in time for spring. Look forward to the pattern as it is a really nice piece for your wardrobe which is easily knit.

Jetzt noch nähen / Now I need to sew

The sleevesless top was a quick and easy knit with large needles - I really like it. Now I need to find time to sew things together and weave in the ends.

RUMS #35/15

Finally I can show my lovely scarf that I made as a testknit for Janukke. I took this project on holiday with me and it was so easy to knit and is looking so good. And I enjoyed the knitting. The pattern is clear and compact as always. I have not worn it yet but the time will come. This afternoon in town it was quite cold around my neck (it's very rainy here today).

Well, August is nealry over and outside it seems a little autumnlike - the lady from the weatherforecast last night reminded us that looking at it from her point of view autumn technically begins on 1 Spetember - but this testknit belongs to August, yes it does. It took a while until I had the yarn but now I am knitting away as this top is meant to be finished by 13 September to become a birthday present.
