RUMS#5/14: Paulie

I am so glad that I have finished my cardigan. I have just sewn on the buttons and am so happy about this beautiful, warm cardigan. I really like the semisolid yarn by Tausendschön. I will just leave it on.

Stricken im Stress / Knitting when stressed

M a n d a r i n e (Test)

It is not advisable to knit when stressed at work - or to knit something other than easy socks or a jumper in rounds. I have finished my Paulie cardigan - or put in other words there is a finished object but it has not turned out the way I intended it to. It is the border I am not happy with. First time round I had too few stitches (picked up according to pattern) and now I meant too well. Maybe I should have waited till stress is over. I am going to rip it tonight. The second project with the yarn with the colour change has suffered, too, as I was unable to do what the instructions said. Luckily there are nice people on ravely who helped me. Now it's going well and real anti stress knitting. The orange project was nicely going from the start - stocking stitch with a garter stitch section in rounds, some decreases and increases here and there, that's something that works any time. But I wanted to show some finishes projects sniff ...

Das nächste Projekt / The next project

My cardigan  P i n k P a u l i e  is about to be finished - I am knitting the neckband and after that I have to sew on the buttons and weave in the ends. The next project has been prepared. It will be a long jumper using this yarn.

Neuer Stoff / New fabric

After the doctor's appointment with my son I passed the drapery. And went in. And came out with this: fabric with birds for my daughter - fabric with stripes for myself.

Neues Möbelstück / A new piece of furniture

Our neighbour is so tidy and has so much energy when in the process of tidying. We always take a lot of time for these things. When she is in action there is alway something for us. Last time she gave a us a beautiful old wardrobe. This time we were given the old bench that once belonged to her mother-in-law. I would like to put it in the study so that there is a nice place for sitting down and reading. What needs doing? Put up the shelves in the master bedroom, carry books from study to bedroom, clean out the wall for the bench, put bench there. Be happy. (Oh, this will take a while, but looking forward is the best form of happiness - as a German proverb says.)

Pläne für 2014 / Plans for 2014

Today I am opening the new year even though I have nothing finished to show yet. I don't have any resolutions, that's not my cup of tea anymore but I have plans. Knitwise I would like to work on the following projects: cardigan Paulie for myself, long jumper for myself (testknit), mitt for my brother, mitt for my sister-in-law, hat for my son, gloves for my husband and finally to finish my FairIsle cardigan (to make my husband happy). Concerning life in general I would like to give life more space in my life and leave the hamster wheel more often. Apart from that I would like to do some sports. This is how I started the day today - I did some gentle walking of 3.5 kms. Better than nothing. I don't like running - not at all.

There is a photo of Paulie because a blog entry without a photo is boring. (As you can see on the left I took this photo risking my life as there was a dangerous pirate next to me.)
