Ein Muss / A Must

Seit über einem Jahr habe ich die Wolle schon. Ich hatte ein T-Shirt versucht, doch da war die Maschenprobe zu dicht. Letzte Woche als ich eigentlich anderes stricken wollte und sollte, fiel mir auf einmal ein, was ich aus der schönen meeresblauen Wolle stricken könnte. Und dann habe ich sofort angefangen.

This yarn has been sitting in my stash for more than one year. I tried to knit a T-Shirt but the swatch was too dense. Last Werk when I wanted and should have knitted other things I suddenly knew what to make from the yarn. And I started immediately.

Jetzt noch nähen / Now I need to sew

Mit großen Nadeln ging das ärmellose Top schnell zu stricken - ich finde es richtig hübsch. Nun muss ich noch nähen und die Fäden vernähen. Mal sehen, ob ich heute dazu komme.

The sleevesless top was a quick and easy knit with large needles - I really like it. Now I need to find time to sew things together and weave in the ends.

Loop

Da es ja nächste Woche wieder kühler werden soll und ich beim Sortieren meiner Stoffe festgestellt habe, dass ich reichlich habe, dachte ich mir gestern, dass ich mich vorbereiten sollte. Diesen Loop möchte ich schon so lange haben. Ich frage mich echt, warum ich so lange mit dem Nähen gewartet habe.

As the weather is going to be cooler next week and I realised that I have plenty of fabric when putting it all away in a nice set of drawers the other day, I decided yesterday to make a loop scarf to prepare. I have wanted to make this one for ages. I am asking myself why it took so long.

Walking 35

Ha, heute hat es geklappt - ganz früh bin ich raus und eine Runde gelaufen. Erst war mir ganz schön kalt, doch bald wurde mir duchs Laufen warm und die Sonne tat ihr Übriges. Es war schön. Fotos habe ich auch mitgebracht.

Well, it worked today - I got outside very early and walked my round. It was really cold at first but soon I got warmer because I was moving and the sun helped, too. Very enjoyable. I also took some photos.

Fast Sport / Nearly sports

Heute ist ein Tag des "eigentlich wollte ich". Denn ich hatte eine Walking-Runde eingeplant, jedoch hat es sich der Nachmittag anders entwickelt als geplant, obwohl es nicht geregnet hat. Stattdesssen habe ich dann einfach eine Runde mit dem Fahrrad gemacht, da ich in der Stadt auch noch etwas abzuholen und einzukaufen hatte. Davon gibt es heute Fotos. Und da es hier gerade so herrlich ruhig ist, werde ich mich anschließend aufs Sofa setzen und noch eine Runde stricken. Meine Radtour führte mich an der Ruhr entlang, denn ich wohne am Ruhrtalradweg. Immer wieder gerne schaue ich mir dieses Schild in der Altstadt an. Heute und morgen Abend ist bei uns im Städtchen Welttheater der Straße (vielleicht mag ja eine von euch kommen) und als ich mir etwas zu trinken kaufen wollte, stand "meine" Cola genau vor meiner Nase - da konnte ich nicht nein sagen.

Today is a day of "Well, I planned to ..." but then somehow everything was different. I had planned to do another round on my circuit but never got round to it despite the good weather. Then I decided to take my bike and cycle into town as I had to pick something up and buy things. I brought you some photos from my tour. I cycled along the river Ruhr as I live close to the cycle path along the river which is very popular among cyclists. The second photo shows a plaque on one of the houses in the old town saying that absolutely nothing happened there on the given date - a bit of British humour in Germany, can you believe it? Today and tomorrow our town is hosting an international open-air theatre festival - so if you don't live too far away, why don't you drop by. When I needed a drink the bottle with my name on it stood in the first row on the shelf - fate, you see?

RUMS #35/15

Endlich kann ich meinen schönen Schal tragen, den ich als Teststrick für Janukke gestrickt habe. Das war mein Urlaubsprojekt und dabei so einfach und wirkungsvoll. Das hat echt Spaß gemacht. Die Anleitung ist wie immer klar und kompakt. Getragen habe ich ihn noch nicht, doch das wird noch kommen. Heute Nachmittag in der Stadt war mir schon kalt am Hals (hier regnet's heute ziemlich).

Finally I can show my lovely scarf that I made as a testknit for Janukke. I took this project on holiday with me and it was so easy to knit and is looking so good. And I enjoyed the knitting. The pattern is clear and compact as always. I have not worn it yet but the time will come. This afternoon in town it was quite cold around my neck (it's very rainy here today).

Auf den Nadeln im August / On my needles in August

Eigentlich ist der August ja schon fast zu Ende und draußen mutet es auch leicht herbstlich an - die Frau im Wetterbericht erinnerte uns gestern auch daran, dass am 1. September der meterologische Herbstanfang ist - doch dieser Teststrick gehört in den August, jawoll. Es dauerte ein bisschen, bis ich die Wolle hatte, doch nun stricke ich fleißig, denn das Top soll bis zum 13. September fertig sein, um als Geburtstagsgeschenk zu dienen.

Well, August is nealry over and outside it seems a little autumnlike - the lady from the weatherforecast last night reminded us that looking at it from her point of view autumn technically begins on 1 Spetember - but this testknit belongs to August, yes it does. It took a while until I had the yarn but now I am knitting away as this top is meant to be finished by 13 September to become a birthday present.
